“The Women’s Event Committee is dedicated to hosting bi-annual events for alcoholic women intended to foster growth in sobriety, a heightened sense of kinship and further awareness of service opportunities. The event topics are intended to create pathways for deeper understanding of specific aspects of the aa program of recovery.”
The first Women’s Event, sponsored by District 32 in Area 44 of Alcoholics Anonymous, was held on October 6, 2019, in Bayonne, New Jersey which was enthusiastically attended by over 80 ladies. Shortly after, the Covid-19 pandemic devastated the world and like many aa's around the world, we banded together to host several online events in 2020 and 2021 as well as weekly topic focused women meeting during the pandemic shutdown in 2020. The District 32 Women’s Event Committee was then approved as a permanent special committee whose purpose is to hold two women focused events each year in the spring and fall to support recovery from alcoholism, unity of the aa fellowship and service to carry the message of aa.
In the fall of 2021, we held our first “hybrid” event both in-person and online and have held our events in this format ever since. The District 32 Women’s Event Committee is grateful to be able to serve aa by hosting the semi-annual events for alcoholic women and carry the message of hope!
